Prevent Scale Buildup and Reduce Fouling in Your Membrane Systems

Reverse osmosis (RO) systems generate concentrated saltwater streams that can lead to scale formation and fouling. Permatech's RO membrane antiscalants are designed as pretreatment solutions that effectively eliminate scale and reduce fouling in membrane systems, regardless of the source of the feedwater. While traditional antiscalants may offer some benefits, Permatech's antiscalants maximizes effectiveness against a wide range of scale-forming substances and keeps fouling materials suspended, further enhancing system performance.

What is an Antiscalant?

An antiscalant is a pretreatment chemical that is injected into the feedwater flowing through the reverse osmosis (RO) membrane. Its purpose is to prevent scaling on the membrane. Scaling occurs when particles accumulate on the membrane surface, which can plug its pores and hinder performance. Common membrane foulants and scalants include calcium carbonate, calcium sulfate, barium sulfate, strontium sulfate, calcium fluoride, iron, colloidal materials, silica, and various organic contaminants. Permatech recommends incorporating an RO membrane antiscalant into your pretreatment program. This addition can enhance the effectiveness of your system against a wide range of scale-forming substances and help keep potential fouling materials suspended.
